HOW MUCH VITAMIN D AND CALCIUM DO I NEED FOR STRONG BONES?

Keeping your bones healthy is vital, especially as you age, because it helps to reduce your risk of osteoporosis and associated complications. Calcium and vitamin D are essential for bone health, so it’s important to obtain enough of these two nutrients either through your diet or through supplementation.

MOVE WELL

TREATING BACK PAIN IN CHILDREN

Back pain in children used to be rare, but recently, more and more children are complaining of back pain. While most cases of back pain in children are not serious, if your child has started complaining of back pain, it’s important to have them evaluated by a physiotherapist to rule out any serious underlying conditions that may be contributing to their pain.

TIPS TO PREVENT INJURY WHEN DRIVING

Preventing injuries while driving involves both proactive measures and defensive driving techniques. The first step is to ensure that you and all your passengers are wearing seatbelts. It’s important to avoid all distractions, such as cell phones and eating, that can take your eyes off the road. It’s also essential to follow cars at a safe distance so that you can safely stop, especially if you have to stop suddenly.

Pay attention to your surroundings by regularly checking your rearview and side mirrors, checking your blind spots, and signaling before making lane changes. Ensure that you follow speed limits and traffic signs, signals, and lights. Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and avoid driving when you’re tired.

In addition to these measures, ergonomic driving practices play a crucial role in preventing sprain and strain injuries when driving. Adjust your set to ensure you maintain a proper posture, keep both hands on the wheel at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, and take regular breaks on long-distance drives to stretch and reduce unnecessary strain on your body.

HAT TIP FOR CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated in January and serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and prevention strategies for cervical cancer. Throughout January, awareness campaigns highlight the significance of regular Pap smears and human papillomavirus (HPV) tests, both of which play key roles in the early detection of cervical cancer, and the HPV vaccine, which plays a key role in the prevention of cervical cancer. Providing education to the public about early screening and detection programs and advocating for accessible access to healthcare helps to improve patient outcomes and increases survival rates.
